You know they say a soldier's wife gives up everything she has; she signed up for this life, she signed up for this man.
She tucks the babies in, then looks up to the sky; she wishes on that star, and tries hard to not cry.
And when that soldier's wife, goes to bed at night; she says a silent prayer, that things will be alright.
That soldier is her life, he's all she ever had; they have two handsome boys, who love and miss their dad.
As the war keeps on, and he's kept from his home; this soldier's wife goes on, so no one ever knows.
One day he will come home, to the family he has missed; he'll hug his little boys, and give his wife a kiss.
As a soldier's wife I know, this is a long dark road; to the ones who've gone before, and the ones not coming home.
May the Lord bless the soldier's wives, Keep them safe and calm their fears; For it is only He, who will calm and dry the tears.
