Christmas cookies...

Today I made cookies and the boys decorated them... this is the result when you place a knife with three colors of frosting in front of a 2 and 3 year old: COOKIES WITH WAY TOOOOOOO MUCH FROSTING!

It makes me sick to just look at these cookies! Nixon was heaping the frosting on the cookies while Noah was dipping the knife in the frosting and proceeded to lick the knife clean. His cookies had a tiny bit of frosting, but they're mostly blank still! The boys had a good time and now they are running amuck in the house bouncin' off the walls and chasing each other! Way to go me.... :|

Well - now that you're all sugar cookied out, here's the recipe:

2c sugar
1c sour cream
1tsp salt
1tsp soda
3 eggs
2Tbsp baking powder
1tsp vanilla
1c melted shortening
6c flour

Mix all ingredients but the flour. Add flour last to make a stiff dough. Chill at least 30 minutes. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 350 for 10 minutes. Makes about 50.

Frosting:
6oz cream cheese (room temperature)
1tsp vanilla
1Tbsp mile
1lb powdered sugar

Mix cheese, milk and vanilla until smooth. Add powdered sugar gradually until it spreads consistently.
(i add sugar to taste. sometimes it takes more or less...)

Save the recipe for a rainy day. The worst part is frosting them... which I'm sure you realized with your two little helpers!
